My people! What is up!
My name is Marissa Morales and I am a 22 year old from the Grand Canyon State, Arizona! My family consists of five people and a pup: Paul (Padre), Tamra (Madre), Austin (Hermano) and Jake (Hermana….Just kidding, this is my youngest brother!), my Chocolate Lab Bella (whom I call Beans) and myself. I feel it is necessary to include my family in this “About Me” section because they are a big part of who I am and have contributed to shaping me into the woman I am today!
Austin is 20 years old and the closest to me in age, he is my favorite person ever, as well as my best friend. Jake is 11 years old, my biggest fan and can hit the cleanest “folks” dance move you have ever seen! Both of my brothers are very competitive and talented baseball players and I was lucky enough to also be a competitive softball player growing up, throughout my high school and some of my college career! My dad is a courier for FedEx by day and a baseball coach by night. He is the hardest working man that I know and also one of my favorite people to joke around with. My mom works for a renown Orthopedic surgeon, she is constantly serving others and I have obtained my leadership skills from her.
As a family we are, the Miller’s! My last name is different because my mother and biological dad are divorced but none-the-less, I am a Miller.
Moving on to me personally, I would like to share with you my favorite hobbies, music choices, sports teams and so on.
Beginning with my Myer’s-Briggs test, I am an ESTP (Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving). My highest score was thinking and my lowest score is feeling, which I don’t really know how to take but I find it rather hilarious! Although we are biblically supposed to refrain from being sarcastic, I am very sarcastic and love humor. I love people and everything that comes with them, their stories, flaws, fears, weaknesses and strengths. All of that jazz is intriguing and special to me.
As a competitor, I enjoy all sports and competitions but am a very sore loser….don’t ask me to play Uno if you want to remain friends.
On to music! Country (90’s and earlier), R&B (00’s and earlier), Instrumentals and Christian music are my favorite genres. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Sr. & Jr., Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Brook’s & Dunn, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain and Dwight Yoakam are a few of my faves. Drop any R&B bops and I’ll jam out!! I love instrumentals, to name a few and recommend if you haven’t heard any, Wilderness by Explosions in the sky is a great album and so is Soak by New Life Worship. As far as Christian artists go, Josh White, Evan Wickham, Hillsong United, Kim Walker-Smith, Phil Wickham and Toby Mac are my daily go-to’s!
Lastly, are sports teams. Because I am a native to Arizona, I am a home team girl! I love the Cardinal’s, Diamond Backs and Phoenix Sun’s. PSA, if you throw shade at my team choices it will not faze me but give me an opportunity to silently gloat if they beat your team. Silent gloating includes: dancing, mysterious drawings of the team logo on random notes, as well as the score of the game that your team lost. Don’t say that I never warned you!
Phew! I would like to say that I am done but that would be false because I would like to close with some spiritual jazz.
To give you a clear picture of who I am in Christ, outside of all that He says I am, my comparison would be to an ocean wave. Waves are strong, silently loud and as they crash in to the sand, they are gentle in touch when they meet you at your feet. There is a current beneath them that you cannot see and a calmness on their surface that could be very misleading. The Lord made me to be just that; Strong, Unpredictable, Gentle and Passionate.
He has instilled in me a love for people and creation. People fuel my fire and bring me closer to Him by reminding me that everyone I meet is an image of Him. Creation slows things down and reminds me to be still. God has been the color in my black and white life. I am very excited to share with you all this new adventure and beautiful picture of the Race.
Thanks for taking the time to read about me! I can’t wait to hear about who you are as well!
Best,
Mariss
